Something else to use Google Alerts for

Thieves place an “Everything must go!” ad on craigslist to cover up evidence of their crime.

Last year something similar was done as a prank it seems.

Imagine coming back to your home and finding people taking anything not bolted down. Hate to think of who on the internet I might piss off enough for them to do this to me.

So now I have added my address to Google Alerts. Not the whole thing, just the number and street. Hopefully that will be enough to tip me off to anything like this happening to me. Unfortunately Google Alerts is not time-dependent, so I might take a look for other ways to troll the web for mentions of my address.

Also added in a search for my license plate. I’m tempted to post the plates of assholes driving around here, someone might want to do the same to me.

Rise of the Machines and Happy Hour

OK, this is pretty cool. I just sent a message through Gmail about happy hour plans for Thursday. Then when I received a reply I noticed a link on the left asking if I would like to add a “Happy Hour” event to Google Calendar for Thursday the 11th. Google is now smart enough figure out that I was planning on going to an event on a specific date and to offer to add it to my calendar. I’m impressed.
